Bridgeport at Connecticut: Welcome Back Nino!
Wednesday morning the Sound Tigers go to Hartford to play the Connecticut Whale. What was going to be a seemingly regular game between the two rivals got a few shifts this past weekend as the Rangers re-called royal pain in everyone's ass and supposed "Spark plug," Sean Avery. Avery cleared Re-Entry waivers and will be headed back to Broadway. But that's a non-story, worthless news.
Instead, the Sound Tigers get some help from the big squad as Nino Niederreiter has joined the team on a conditioning assignment from Long Island and will spend the next 2 weeks with the squad getting into game shape and re-adjusting to the speed of professional games in a much safer environment than the NHL. Where he'll play will likely be announced pre-game as one has to expect he'll play next to Justin DiBenedetto and Casey Cizikas. Exciting stuff folks.
Also joining the Sound Tigers will be recently waived Trevor Gillies, he'll add what he adds, the ability to fight and maybe throw a clean check. Though with Brett Gallant, Michael Haley and Steve Oleksy in the line-up and Benn Olson banged up, there isn't much use for Gillies in Bridgeport. Then again, with around an average 2:30 of ice time with the Isles, there isn't much use for him there as well.
As for tomorrow's line up, the additions of Nino and Gillies make guaging the line up a bit difficult.
Your netminder for tomorrow will also be a morning foretelling. The Sound Tigers could go with Poulin or Koskinen as Nilsson got the last start, but maybe they go with the best overall guy. Honestly, I have no idea.
I'll be listening to the live stream hopefully with a post game tomorrow.
