Tonight our New York Islanders traveled to Florida to take on David Booth and the Panthers. Here are some my notes from the game:
-Despite how you feel about him last goal not withstanding Ricky played pretty good tonight in his first game since he got hurt on 2/2
-Nice to see Comeau and Gervais fight late and stand up for themselves!
-Who knew Haley was so fast, wonder if some analysts out there still think he is a no talent ECHL goon?
-Congrats to Michael Grabner for netting his 30th goal of the season tonight. It was a man down, and it was against the team that waived him in the preseason so I am sure it was a little bit sweeter.
-After taking that nasty fall into the post in the first period I was very happy Hamonic was ok!
-For the first time in a few games Islander fans have nothing to complain about with regard to officials outside of that one soft boarding call on Jesse Joensuu. A welcomed change for Islander fans who after the last few games regularly and with reason were complaining about the bad officiating. Most specifically last Saturday in Jersey and then tuesday at MSG.
-Nielsen and Parenteau won the shootout with ease, Ricky looked pretty solid in the shootout, as well as the penatly shot awarded to David Booth late in OT. Just before the shootout Butch noted how PA Parenteau hadn't been very good in the shootout, PA showed him!!
Tonight was a big win for our Islanders, after a rough stretch had them getting a bunch of loser points but not finishing things off. Hopefully tonights game starts some mojo for us as we finish the roadtrip and return home.
Next Game: Tuesday @ Tampa Bay starting at 7:30 PM
