The New York Islanders and John Tavares have agreed to a six year contract extension worth $33 million according to Katie Strang of ESPN and Arthur Staple of Newsday.
The Islanders have said that the paperwork has not been formally completed yet, but will be by the start of their press conference tomorrow at 1p.m. Eastern.
According to Pierre Lebrun of ESPN, Tavares will recieve $4 million the first year, $5 million the second year, and $6 million in each of the remaining four years on the contract.
Newsday first reported of contract negotiations between Tavares and the Islanders on Monday night.
