The Internet nearly shut down over the weekend when reports out of Germany surfaced that Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro has signed a deal with SC Riessersee. With Oktoberfest in full swing and half the country drunk in Munich, fans thought it was a prank when they read the words "Sensation" and "DiPietro" in the same sentence. With a fanbase split in half over management issues, the last place, 2nd tier club could use any sort of news.
DiPietro wasn't available for comments because his Samsung Galaxy III didn't have an international SIM card. Isles owner made it clear at the end of last season that any player under contract going overseas during the lockout will have their company phones shut off.
